About me

Ex-Pro and Olympian turned meticulous and dedicated coach

With over 20 years of knowledge and experience in triathlon racing at the top level, Lawrence is in a great position to help others get the most out of themselves in the sport.

A couple years after he retired, Riot Racing Club was blossoming and Will was looking for another coach he trusted with enough experience to show the way to more Rioters. Will and Lawrence spent pretty much their whole careers training and racing together so have similar views on what good coaching looks like.

I love Riot’s relaxed but professional approach to coaching. Will and Clare have built a thriving community, with an inclusive and supportive atmosphere. I jumped at the chance of working with not only other great coaches, but also long time friends.

From me you will get honest, fully bespoke coaching with no limits to or strings attached. I understand how hard it can be fitting a triathlon programme into a hectic life, and will be there every step of the way on your journey to PBs. Having been both a Pro triathlete but now at amateur level (sedentary at points!) in full-time work, I have experienced opposite ends of the fitness spectrum. I also understand the balance of juggling training with real life. So whatever your current level, I have probably experienced where you are at today. I will work with you to get the most fitness out of you within the time you have.

I have had success with both age-group and elite triathletes, from complete beginners to seasoned athletes. I have coached triathletes to winning their age group in some of the top Half-Ironman races in Europe, winning elite regional championships, winning bronze in the Saudi Games but most importantly introducing people to the triathlon bug and having a blast as a Rioter!

TestimoniaL

“Lawrence is a very knowledgeable person who loves numbers but also has an old school way about him and this I find is amazing a coach that can work with numbers and loves the finer details and can break a plan down fairly easy for me to understand. I don’t have much interest in setting out plans of how and when I’m to peak – that’s Lawrence’s job and let me tell you the man knows how to do that.

Previous to working with Lawrence my 70.3 times were all 6 hours + and they are now 5.20s and more time to be taken off them. He has me ranked 3rd in my age category in the national duathlon championships here in Ireland so I think he knows what he is at.

The best advice I can give anyone looking to change coach is chat to Riot because they have me on the right path and Lawrence is hell bent on making me the athlete he believes I can be and who knows 2024 might be a special year… Stay tuned!”

John Blake,

Ireland
